River Hills Golf and Country Club, a Tom Jackson design, has been named a “Top 50 in the Southeast” golf course by Golf Week and was nominated as one of the country’s “Best New Courses” by Golf Digest. Since opening in 1988, has given locals and visitors every reason to return. Unlike most courses along the Coastal areas of South Carolina, River Hills incorporates rolling hills and heavily wooden terrain to create a unique look all its own. With a recently renovated colonial-style clubhouse, the combination of amenities, value and pure golf make River Hills a must-play.

Most importantly, River Hills rates year-round as one of the Grand Strand’s most consistent courses. Pristine conditions greet players, and the challenging-yet-fair design entertains the imagination of the game. Champion Ultra-Dwarf Bermuda greens help make up for elevations differences that reach as high as 40 feet at some points. River Hills plays as long as 6,918 yards from the back tees and as short as 5,030 yards from the ladies’ tees.

The course’s signature hole is the 526-yard par-5 No. 17, a double-water, double-dogleg masterpiece that serves as the ultimate risk-reward for players nearing the end of their round. Before you reach that point, however, there is a symbolic give-and-take from the layout. For every tougher hole, an easier one directly follows it. It prevents players from feeling “beat up” while still delivering a challenge for the brave.

Located just outside North Myrtle Beach in historic Little River, River Hills Golf and Country Club is just a short drive north from the heart of the Grand Strand.

Nice course and in excellent condition. They needed a ranger to keep play moving. It was slow and after the 4th or 5th hole we never saw another ranger. We will go back.

Nice greens! Found the course very tight but some of that was me. Would like to play again and not hit the driver so much...score would improve by 5 or 6 strokes.

The conditions were good. The Champion greens were softer than other similar hybrid greens, putted true and are smaller than many greens around MB. RH is fairly challenging, has a number of tight holes and has water and/or OB on many holes. Holes 17 + 18 are very challenging finishing holes, with ##18 having possibly the most elevation change uphill in MB. There is a lot of housing on the course, but most are not too close to the landing areas. RH is a good option for good conditions at a reasonable rate, but be ready for a challenge.

This course is simply amazing. Very difficult and in great condition. Players with no ball control may not enjoy this course but will appreciate its difficulty and will enjoy the beautiful holes. We will play this course again.

Over 6 days, we played 10 rounds of golf at 10 different MB courses. Overall, this was our best experience. This is a beautiful challenging course and it is in excellent shape. Perfect greens and fairways with the tee boxes good. Only Hole ##1 is a bit iffy. Some elevation change here. The course ranger was active here so we were able to play in just under 4.5 hours. Would highly recommend and would return.

You have to play target golf but it rewards a good shot.There is a LOT of water in play.
